Free Denver Cyanotype Kite Workshop 9/25

Free Denver Cyanotype Kite Workshop

Led by Boulder artists Melanie Walker and George Peters, participants will learn to make photographic kites using cyanotype imagery with the sky as their gallery. Cyanotypes will be supplied or bring your own.

The workshop will take place late morning on September 25 with three one-hour time slots at 10 AM, 11 AM, and 12 PM. The workshop will culminate with a kite-flying event (weather permitting) from 2-4 PM, where participants, their families, and the community can participate in flying kites together. The kite fly is open to anyone that wants to bring an art kite.

Location: RiNo Art Park, 1900 35th St, Denver, CO 80216 (meeting place will be confirmed after registration)

The Center for Fine Art Photography will document the kite flying through video and photography.

About the Artists

Melanie Walker and George Peters are the team behind Airworks Studio. They have installed over one-hundred large-scale public art projects nationally and internationally. The works include public library commissions, universities and colleges, recreation centers, health care commissions, corporate clients, urban and transportation projects, and many city and state agency commissions. Melanie is also a nationally recognized photographer represented by Walker Fine Art in Denver.

“We believe that public artwork should reflect a character of place, make a positive influence on the people that use and inhabit these areas, create an integrated platform for art in our public spaces and make our living, playing, and working spaces a mix of color, culture, and heart.”
