The Brothers | Elin Høyland

January 20 – February 18, 2012

STATEMENT

Elin Høyland’s The Brothers documents “a predictable and comforting routine” of two brothers, Harald and Mathias, that had only lived apart for two months of their lives. This stunning body of work depicts life on a small farm in rural Norway. This simple yet calming way of life has now almost certainly disappeared not only in Norway, but most of the modern world.

A winner of Critical Mass in 2010, Elin Høyland has shown her work in galleries around the world including the United Kingdom, Sweden, China, and most recently the United States. She has also received honors from the Association of Photographers in London, Occupation Magazines in Sweden, The Photofestival in France, lensculture.com, and the International Photography Awards.
