You would be forgiven for thinking that the subjects of John Keedy’s “Protean Frame II” look alike. In fact, they’re identical. Composites of multiple self portraits, Keedy examines the dualities of self using carefully staged sets.
In his own words:
The series Protean Frames, from which this image is taken, examines how the creation and maintenance of relationships with others can act as a mirror for our own internal relationships. Each photograph is digitally constructed using three or more images, resulting in double self-portraits. Each image works to tell the story of the relationship between two individuals, both of whom are me, and reference my own personal experiences and interactions with others and with myself.
