Course Description:
Photographers have the power to influence the world with a click of their shutter. Their images influenced the beginning and ending of wars, and used to enlighten and motivate people to take up causes that benefit mankind and our planet.
Instructor: Robert Glenn Ketchum
The instructor for this workshop is Robert Glenn Ketchum. Roberts’s images and words have made him the preeminent photographer and author contributing to the preservation and restoration of our environment on an international scale. If you have a passion for using your camera as tool for social change, you’ll want to attend this workshop. You can see some of Robert’s work and read his biography

The workshop will consist of several presentations and a series of case studies showing how Robert approaches an issue, acquires funding, creates images, writes narrative and presents convincing arguments to all levels of government, including the US Senate. He will use his Alaskan project that led to publishing The Tongass: Alaska’s Vanishing Rain Forest as one of his in-depth studies. Robert’s presentations will also show how his fine art images can be used as persuasive political photos.
This workshop is full of rich compelling photography and provides a wealth of knowledge that will help focus your efforts on any social project.
Schedule
• Friday afternoon 3 – 5 pm:
Get acquainted meeting of photographers with Robert.
Robert will look at your portfolio and discuss your
interests. This time is reserved for sharing history
and aspirations, rather than formal portfolio reviews.
Robert will also show some of his work.
Following the meet and greet, participants are invited
to attend the reception for the exhibition of Our
Environment; the Good, the Bad and the Ugly in the
Center’s gallery. Robert juried the exhibition.
