Course Description:
Participants will explore –
- Construction of pinhole cameras from boxes which participants bring; pre-made pinhole cameras which they may have, and available boxes in the class.
- Brief background on pinhole camera history
- Introduction to understanding of pinhole camera angle of view, focal length and its
effect on exposure
- Pinhole making with needles and .002 Brass shim
- Pinhole critique: size, roundness, sharpness, etc.
- Exposure basics explained: Light, Aperture (pinhole), recording surface, Time
- Around the Center shooting
- Collective critique of each session’s pinhole experiences.
Each Participant will need:
Ilford Multi-Grade RC surface 8x10 paper (Pearl, Matt, or Satin surface), a watch,
perseverance and a spirit of adventure.
