Pinhole Photography Workshop
Two 4-Hour Sessions

Saturdays, May 9th & 16th, 2009

Course Description:

Participants will explore –

  • Construction of pinhole cameras from boxes which participants bring; pre-made pinhole cameras which they may have, and available boxes in the class.
  • Brief background on pinhole camera history
  • Introduction to understanding of pinhole camera angle of view, focal length and its
    effect on exposure
  • Pinhole making with needles and .002 Brass shim 
  • Pinhole critique: size, roundness, sharpness, etc. 
  • Exposure basics explained:  Light, Aperture (pinhole), recording surface, Time
  • Around the Center shooting
  • Collective critique of each session’s pinhole experiences.

Each Participant will need:
Ilford Multi-Grade RC surface 8x10 paper (Pearl, Matt, or Satin surface), a watch,
perseverance and a spirit of adventure.
