Charles Rozier makes another appearance at the Center with an image from his unique 35+ year document of family and friends. These un-posed portraits express an intimacy seldom encountered by casual relations yet quietly identifiable.

Charles Rozier sections his ongoing Album Project by the media used to capture the images: monochrome black and white between 1986 and 2002, low resolution digital from 2003-2008, 6×7 film from 2008 onward. These segments are at once an intimate document of family and a ruminative pause on the passage of time. Each approach – black and white, digital, medium format – casts the photographer as both participant and observer to a varying degree. The slow formality of the medium format process grants significance in equal measure to the experience of making an image and the precious time spent with the subject.
