Artist Statement:
|
“I Go Down to the River to Pray” is a photographic exploration of the Waikato River. For both Maori and Pakeha the Waikato is a source of spiritual and material needs.
My desire is to understand the people who live here, the way they live and what the river means to them.
These photographs provide an ongoing journey, which aims to construct a portrait of this community, of the communities and the landscape they inhabit.
I am fascinated by people’s pursuit of happiness and how they live their lives. I believe happiness in life is about balance, moderation and living in harmony with the environment. |
