The Invisible Thread
While rummaging through a vintage clothing store, I was drawn to a box of gently used ladies’ lingerie. Sorting through the carefully folded intimate apparel and nightwear, my imagination drifted to thoughts of the women who once wore them and the secrets and stories woven between the silk and nylon threads of these once cherished keepsakes.
When I attempted to photograph the delicate garments, the light drew my attention to the detailed fabrication and the fragile balance of the strong, yet delicate combinations of beauty and functionality. My photographic collection of “Invisible Thread” mirrors a paradox of the shared truths that connect the feminine experience; calculated but vulnerable.
