My Transience series of photographs is an exploration into the boundary between vision and perception, seeing and imagining, the real and the remembered. These images are both an inward journey and an outward expression, as I look for my place in society, society's role within my life, and the significance of my presence along the
timeline of history.
To live in a world of perception is to live in isolation; no two people experience the world in the same way. The more society comes up with ways to over-stimulate our thoughts and our senses, the more our perception separates from reality – we isolate ourselves from that
which surrounds us.
I am transient, distanced, looking in on the world from the outside. I see reflections of myself played out through the lives of others. As I observe, I begin to realize the discrepancy between my perception and reality. I do not see the world from the outside; I see it from the inside. The images I create through my camera are memories and dreams, perceptions and realities. They are my outside world and my inside world.
