Panel Discussion | Photography As Response

Open to the public and public participation

On November 9th at 6:00 pm at The Center for Fine Art Photography, in collaboration with the Straayer Center for Public Service Leadership, we will host a panel discussion with local professors, the Huffington Post’s Christy Havranek, artists and visitors. We welcome and encourage all those who would like to listen and participate to attend this free event.

In honor of and to support the Center’s Photography As Response exhibition, a panel of professors from Colorado State University Arts Department and the Political Science Department will join us in the main Gallery to openly discuss art as activism and the role that imagery plays in our contemporary society. Christy Havranek, Photography As Response juror and Photo Director at Huffington Post will also participate in the panel discussion.

Jason Bernagozzi, Assistant Professor, Digital Foundations/Electronic Art

ARTIST STATMENT: Central to my artistic practice is a desire to investigate and experiment with the significant features of time-based media as an evolving world language. I am particularly interested in the potential of real-time processing with video, sound and other electronic forms as a way to work through various concepts within a reflexive dialogical system. The main focus of my creative research at this time is split between database arrangements of documentary and narrative media structures and continuing my research into redesigning physical video instruments for use in performative and responsive works

Jason Bernagozzi is a video, sound and new media artist living and working in Fort Collins, Colorado and is the co-founder of the experimental media arts non-profit Signal Culture. His work has been featured nationally and internationally at venues such as the European Media Arts Festival in Osnabruk, Germany, the LOOP Video Art Festival in Barcelona, Spain, the Beyond/In Western NY Biennial in Buffalo, NY, and the Yan Gerber International Arts Festival in Hebei Province, China. His work has received several awards including grants from the New York State Council for the Arts, Wavefarm and the ARTS Council for the Southern Finger Lakes
