Portrait of An Aged Beauty © Marcia Treiger

An aging hand offers a beauty trope in place of her own face. The description is simple but the break down much less so. The torn magazine ad might suggest that visible age invalidates spiritual beauty but more pointedly questions why we look to youth for our definition of beauty in the first place. This image is currently held in the permanent collection of the Houston Museum of Fine Arts.
