The Center for Fine Art Photography announces its first Northern Colorado Youth photography show, MySpace.MyFace.MyStory: youth culture communicating through digital imagery.
This photo competition will feature approximately 50 young artists and will be on display at the Center from October 2 – October 31, 2009. The opening reception is on Saturday October 17, from 6 – 9 PM in the Center’s South Gallery.
Theme:
How do you see yourself? If you had to describe yourself to someone, what would you show them? Would you show them the place you live, your family members, your ideas, or something you have created? A self-portrait is just one way of showing people who you are. Be creative and tell us the story of your life through the magic of photography. This show will feature the way youth culture uses photographs to communicate.
Eligibility:
The exhibition is open to 12-18 year olds living in Northern Colorado. The Center invites all styles of photography with the exception of nudity,
profanity or inappropriate content.

Important Dates:
- Friday August 21, 6-9 pm The Center will be hosting a PhotoBooth in the ArtLab space in Old Town
- Saturday August 22, 11: 00 am – 12:00 pm free creative picture taking class at the Center
- Early Entry deadline is August 24, 2009. The first 30 entries will receive a prize.
- Final Entry deadline is August 31, 2009
- Entries must arrive at the Center by: August 31, 2009
- Notice of acceptance: September 8, 2009
- Exhibition dates: October 2 – October 31, 2009
- Reception: October 17, 2009
Exhibition and Awards:
All selected artists will be included in the Center’s gallery. Three best of show awards will be given, including a $100.00 cash award from The Cache Gallery of Photography and the opportunity to shadow a professional photographer for a day.
Entry Fee:
There are no fees to participate.
You must submit at least 10 images, but no more than 15 images
Submitting Images:
All images must be submitted in digital form; do not send prints.

Preparing Images: Please prepare your images as follows for submission
- RGB (please not CMYK)
- 1280 pixels on the longest side (width or height) with the other size proportional
- JPG image only (please no TIF files)
- Please include your last name in the file name for identification
- Resolution 72 ppi, with flattened layer, at 8 bit
- Please Note: Even though images are submitted as low resolution files (72 ppi); upon acceptance, images will need to be submitted to the Center as high resolution files (300 ppi) for printing.
Acceptance Notification: Everyone who submits will be notified by email. There, artist’s names will be posted along with instructions for the gallery presentation. If you are under 18 years old, you will need a parent or guardian to verify participation.
Use Rights: By submission for jurying, artists whose images are chosen for the exhibition grant The Center for Fine Art Photography the right to use their images for the purpose of marketing the exhibition, marketing the Center’s programs and subsequent display on the Center’s website of past exhibitions. Artists grant the use of their image(s) as stated without further contact or compensation from the Center. Artist’s recognition is provided
with any use. |
